“Corporate workers aren’t always aware of the range of skills and deep knowledge they have acquired in their various roles,” said Luke Seal from Thomson Reuters. “Skills and knowledge that can be put to great use when volunteering.”

Luke, Global VP of Human Resources, was talking from first-hand experience. He’s volunteered his time and expertise with a number of social enterprises supported by SBT, including Catch22, The Brilliant Club and Bikeworks CIC – organisations that are making a tangible difference to the lives of many people.

Luke offered his insights on November 22 at an SBT event that brought together staff from Clifford Chance, a law firm, and Thomson Reuters, a content and technology company.

Also speaking at the event was John Connolly, a partner at Clifford Chance, who volunteers his expertise with an organisation that supports children and adults in times of crisis.

“Volunteering as an Investment Director with Hestia has made me a more rounded person, it’s good for the soul,” said John.

The Social Business Trust event, held with Thomson Reuters, allowed corporate staff a glimpse into the practical benefits that can flow when they lend their time and skills to a good cause.
