Retail Trust was founded in 1832 and in the words of their very first Chairman Thomas Helps, the purpose of the charity is "to promote the happiness and interests of those engaged in the trade, whose industry, integrity, and character were too often insufficient to rescue them from suffering and want."

This still holds true today. It guides everything they do, why they do it and what they believe in. Retail Trust aims to promote hope, health and happiness to all those working in retail, helping individuals and businesses in need with advise and financial support.

Last year, 160,827 people accessed their helpline and digital self-help support. They also delivered 7,309 counselling sessions and provided £356,915 in financial aid to enable retail colleagues to remain in their own homes, feed their families and improve their quality of life.
